Arrival in Ethiopia....finally!

Yes, we made it to Addis after a very smooth flight. The flight was half full so many of us had the entire row. WE are styaing at the Ethiopian Guest Home. Tomorrow we go to ET Transitional Home in the morning and play soccer with the street kids in the afternoon. Mother Teresa Orphanage and A HOPE HIV orphanage on Wednesday. I think we are going to Kidmia on Thursday now so we'll miss the Compassion drop off center in ET.
Thanks you for all of your prayers. Once we were on the plane (for the second time) we have seen Gods favor. Upon arrival, the airport was quiet and we quickly made our way through. All of our luggage arrived in tact full of donations. No one asked us to declare anything. Only the plastic crates of formula were checked. Smooth~ what an anwer to prayer.
God is so good. Our plans will not be foiled.
Keep praying-
We have kids to reach with the love of Christ.

According to Ethiopia Airlines, the team arrived in Addis Ababa at 3:58pm Ethiopia local time.
There is a link to Mindy's blog on the right side of this page under the heading of "Team Members' Blogs". She has a twitter post on the right side of her page and confirms that they have arrived and have their bags. She also has video of the team at the Dulles airport. Check it out!

The Unexpected

The unexpected so quickly reminds me exactly who is in control. God is. Our team is still in Virginia. We expected to be in arriving in Ethiopia in a few hours. Instead, we made it to the Sheraton Herndon this morning at about 4:30 this morning. About 50 passengers arrived 4 at a time in taxis to the hotel. The last we heard early this morning, another plane was scheduled to leave at 12:00 noon carrying us to our African destination. Since it is 11, I don't think we are going anywhere yet. God is good though. He is control. Please pray for a safe flight across the Atlantic as soon as possible.
Update: The shuttle is beginning to take people to the airport for a 3 p.m. or 4 p.m. flight.
Keep sending up prayers. God will work in the details.

Trip Update- Prayer Needed

As anyone who has been on mission trips knows, you have to expect the unexpected. Danielle and Lisa made it to Dulles and met up with the rest of the team. They boarded the plane to Ethiopia then sat at the gate for over 4 hours while a mechanical problem was being repaired. Finally, they were off loaded and went to a hotel near the airport. They are not sure when they are going to be able to leave. It may be as late as Monday. I will post again when I know more. Please pray for travel mercies.

Send Off and Prayer Party

God ministers to me through my friends and family. It was such an encouragement to see so many of you at our home last night. Thank you for the taking time. I wish I had taken photos! John Williams read scripture and began us in a powerful round of prayer for the Visiting Orphans team and the spread of the gospel message. After the prayer session, Barbara reminded me that I had a blog to debut. This accountability just might keep me from further procrastination. As requested, I am sending this blog address out to as many people as I know. Please send it farther.

On Saturday I'll fly out of San Antonio to Dulles with my missions friend, Lisa. We are calling on all of you to lift us up in prayer! Hello Dirt (nothing personal)

Roots are growing on the tiny seed. Planting time! I've thought of blogging for several months. The dream is now reality. It's time to place this seed in the soil and water it. It will definitely be a dirty process, full of spelling errors, grammar mistakes and punctuation mishaps. Please help me to give myself grace, Lord.
